【課題】海等で遭難した遭難者の位置等を遠隔でニアタイムで正確に把握することができ、遭難者が使用する救命具等に装着される救難タグの電力消費量の大幅な低減を図ることができ、それにより救難タグの電池の容量低減による救難タグの軽量化等を図ることができる遭難者捜索救助支援システムを提供する。【解決手段】遭難者捜索救助支援システムは、GPS受信機、通信装置、処理装置および電源を有する救難タグを用い、これを救命具等に装着する。時刻t1に電源をオンとし、次いでGPS受信機をオンとして計測を開始し、GPS信号より最初の位置情報を取得した後の時刻t3にGPS受信機をオフ、通信装置をオンとして位置情報を通信装置から送信し、次いで時刻t5に通信装置をオフとし、次いで時刻t6に電源をスリープ状態としてこのスリープ状態を時刻t7まで継続し、時刻t1から時刻t6までの時間を10分以内とし、この一連の動作を繰り返し行う。【選択図】図5
