To provide a road feature determining device for identifying a road edge which is a boundary with a sidewalk, a road center, a lane center, and the like.SOLUTION: In a road feature determining device, structure lower end point extracting means finds a surface point at a position horizontally separated from a vertex of a structure at an end portion by a predetermined distance shorter than a minimum sidewalk width in a cross section; sets a straight line that connects the found surface point and the vertex; and extracts a surface point having a longest length perpendicular to the straight line, as a structure lower end point. Road end point extraction means determines an average point of surface points within a predetermined distance from a lower end point of the structure, and sets a straight line connecting the average point and a traveling point; and extracts a surface point having a longest length perpendicular to the straight line as a road end point.     【課題】歩道との境である道路端部を特定したり、道路中心、車線中心などを特定する道路特徴決定装置を提供する。【解決手段】道路特徴決定装置において、構造物下部端点抽出手段は、横断面において、端部の構造物の頂点から水平方向に最小歩道幅より短い所定距離移動した位置における表面点を見いだす。見いだした表面点と、頂点との間を結ぶ直線を設定する。さらに、直線に対する垂線が最も長い表面点を構造物下部端点として抽出する。道路端部点抽出手段は、構造物下部端点から所定距離の範囲の表面点の平均点を決定し、平均点と走行点との間を結ぶ直線を設定する。さらに、直線に対する垂線が最も長い表面点を道路端部点として抽出する。このようにして、各横断面において、道路端部点が抽出される。【選択図】図3
