To improve a functional safety level in an arithmetic unit for automobile that has a function to utilize deep learning.SOLUTION: An arithmetic unit for automobile includes: an outside-vehicle environment estimation part 111 estimating an outside-vehicle environment by using deep learning; a first route calculation part 113 calculating a first route candidate on the basis of a result of estimation by the outside-vehicle environment part; an object recognition part 121 recognizing an object outside a vehicle according to a prescribed rule without using deep learning; a second safe area calculation part 122 calculating a second safe area SA2 on the basis of a result of the object recognition part 121; and a target motion determination part 130 determining a target motion of an automobile 1. The target motion determination part 130 selects the first route candidate as a route for the automobile 1 to travel when the first route candidate is within the second safe area SA2, whereas it does not select the first route candidate as the route for the automobile 1 to travel when the first route candidate is outside the second safe area SA2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
