To provide a negative pressure type electric booster which can reduce a load of a return spring.SOLUTION: In an electric booster that boosts input a brake operation and outputs the boosted input from an output shaft, an assist mechanism includes a pinion gear provided on a motor shaft of an electric motor, a first gear which receives an output torque of the electric motor through the pinion gear and is moved in an axial direction, and a second gear which is provided coaxially with the first gear and can be connected to the first gear along the movement in the axial direction of the first gear, and the first gear and the second gear are connected to each other when the output torque of the electric motor is equal to or higher than a predetermined value, while the connection is released when the output torque of the electric motor is less than a predetermined value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
