To provide an on-vehicle communication unit suitable for vehicle-to-vehicle communication and road-vehicle communication.SOLUTION: A communication unit 10 includes: a wireless communication module 20; and a control section 30 for controlling an operation of the wireless communication module 20. The wireless communication module 20 includes: a first transmission/reception section 21 that can selectively perform transmission/reception in vehicle-to-vehicle communication and road-vehicle communication via a first antenna 11; and a second transmission/reception section 22 that can selectively perform vehicle-to-vehicle communication and road-vehicle communication via a second antenna 12. The control section 30 controls the wireless communication module 20 so as to change over the first transmission/reception section 21 and the second transmission/reception section 22 between vehicle-to-vehicle communication and road-vehicle communication at predetermined changeover timing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
