To provide a vehicular control device and method capable of further improving drivability and fuel economy when a driving force source is controlled by using other parameters in addition to an accelerator opening.SOLUTION: A vehicular control device 100 includes: a target torque determination section 110 determining target torque of a driving force source; and a starting initial state determination section 140 determining that a vehicle is in a starting initial state. A parameter used for determination of the target torque in the target torque determination section 110 is switched on the basis of a determination result obtained by the starting initial state determination section 140 between the case where the vehicle is in the starting initial state and the case when the vehicle is in a state other than the starting initial state.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
