To provide a rotary expansion device that can be compactified.SOLUTION: A rotary expansion device includes: a body member; a movement member; a spring member; a cam protrusion 55; a cam groove 70 which is formed along an inner peripheral surface of a cylindrical part in a predetermined depth with respect to the inner peripheral and into which the cam protrusion 55 is intruded to move the movement member in an axial direction while rotating the movement member; and pressing means for pressing the cam protrusion 55 toward a bottom surface of the cam groove 70 in a displaceable manner. The cam groove 70 includes: a first holding part 71 for holding the movement member in a state of protruding from one end of the cylindrical part; a second holding part 73 for holding the movement member in a state of being withdrawn inside the cylindrical part; an outward path for guiding the cam protrusion 55 to lead it to the second holding part 73; and a return path 77 for guiding the cam protrusion 55 to lead it to the first holding part 71.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 13
