To provide a passenger conveyor step braking distance measurement device and a method for passenger conveyor step braking distance measurement, the device being capable of measuring a braking distance of steps easily.SOLUTION: A step braking distance measurement device 100 is disposed at a base point O that is higher than steps 30, and comprises a measurement unit 120 that measures a first angle θ1 formed by a first line S1 connecting the base point O and a first position P1 of a reflector 304 for a reference step 30 when a stop signal is output and a perpendicular line R from the base point O, and measures a second angle θ2 formed by a second line S2 connecting the base point O and a second position P2 of the reflector 304 for the stopped reference step 30 and the perpendicular line R, and an arithmetic unit 118 that calculates a braking distance L of the reference step 30 on the basis of the first angle θ1 and the second angle θ2, and a length h of the perpendicular line R from the base point O to the height at which the reference step 30 is present.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
