전기철도차량의 통합형 전력변환장치는 가선(catenary)으로부터 전원을 입력받는 공용 전원 회로, 공용 전원 회로의 출력단에 접속되며 가변전압가변주파수(Variable Voltage Variable Frequency, VVVF) 제어에 따라 구동하는 추진제어장치, 및 공용 전원 회로의 출력단에 접속되며, 고정전압고정주파수(Constant Voltage Constant Frequency, CVCF)에 따라 구동하는 보조전원장치를 포함하며, 추진제어장치 및 보조전원장치는 공용 전원회로에 병렬 접속된다.
