In the present invention, a viewing angle can be formed not only in a front but also in a lateral direction, by using a light emitting control optical member for controlling the traveling path of light emitted from a light guide plate in a lateral direction, a polarizing plate for transmitting specific polarized light among light whose path is controlled in the lateral direction by the light emitting control optical member, and a liquid crystal lens for controlling a progress path in the front and lateral directions according to polarization matching or mismatching with specific polarized light. Accordingly, it is possible to control a viewing angle in the viewing direction of the front or lateral surfaces, and to effectively improve the problem of unnecessarily increasing power consumption when the viewing direction is the lateral direction by fixing the viewing angle direction to the front surface. The liquid crystal display device further includes a first light source and a liquid crystal lens.
본 발명에서는, 도광판에서 출사된 광의 진행경로를 측방향으로 제어하는 출광제어광학부재와, 출광제어광학부재에 의해 측방향으로 경로가 제어된 광 중 특정 편광을 투과하는 편광판과, 특정 편광과의 편광 매칭이나 비매칭에 따라 진행 경로를 정면이나 측방향으로 제어하는 액정렌즈를 사용하여, 시야각을 정면 뿐만 아니라 측면 방향으로도 형성할 수 있다. 이에 따라, 정면이나 측면의 시청 방향으로 시야각을 제어할 수 있게 되어, 종래에서 시야각 방향이 정면으로 고정됨에 의해 시청 방향이 측면인 경우에 불필요하게 소비전력이 증가하는 문제를 효과적으로 개선할 수 있게 된다.
