The present invention is to provide a system for starting an engine of a hybrid vehicle and a method thereof. According to the present invention, when engine cranking is performed using a starter generator of the hybrid vehicle, torque for cranking the engine of the starter generator can be compensated for by using a difference between a target engine speed and an actual engine speed and a speed error between a model speed of a nominal model and the actual engine speed. Accordingly, an overshoot phenomenon of the engine speed at startup may be prevented by compensating for torque change of the engine generated during an engine explosion stroke. Accordingly, generation of a noise due to an overshoot phenomenon may be prevented, and NVH performance may be improved. The system for starting the engine of the hybrid vehicle of the present invention comprises: an engine target speed setting unit; and a speed controller.

    본 발명은 하이브리드 차량의 시동발전기를 이용하여 엔진 크랭킹이 이루어질 때, 엔진 목표속도와 실제 엔진속도 간의 차이, 그리고 공칭모델의 모델속도와 실제 엔진속도 간의 속도오차를 이용하여 시동발전기의 엔진 크랭킹을 위한 토크를 보상할 수 있도록 함으로써, 엔진 폭발행정 시 발생하는 엔진의 토크 변화를 보상하여 시동시 엔진속도의 오버슛 현상을 방지할 수 있고, 그에 따라 오버슛 현상에 따른 소음 발생 등을 방지하여 NVH 성능을 향상시킬 수 있도록 한 하이브리드 차량의 엔진 시동 시스템 및 방법을 제공하고자 한 것이다.
