A computing device collects, during an initial portion of a charging session of an electric vehicle (EV), a plurality of samples indicative of an amount of charge transferred from an EV charger to the EV during a respective time interval; constructs, using the collected plurality of samples, an estimated charge profile for the EV; selects, from among a plurality of prestored charge profiles, a prestored charge profile similar to the estimated charge profile; and adjusts a charge parameter and/or a time estimate associated with the charging session using the selected prestored charge profile.
