A flight path associated with a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) vehicle is obtained. A first and second expected rotations per minute associated with first and second motors, respectively, at a point in time are obtained from the flight path. A first motor wear metric that represents an amount of wear associated with the first motor is determined based at least in part on the first expected rotations per minute at the point in time. A second motor wear metric is similarly determined. It is determined whether to restrict a duration of a future flight of the VTOL vehicle based at least in part on the first motor wear metric and the second motor wear metric. If it is determined to do so, the duration of the future flight of the VTOL vehicle is automatically restricted.
