This paper presents an innovative mechanism for detecting jamming attack in a massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system employing 1-bit quantization. The originality of our solution lies in using a 1-bit window comparator whose output entropy is purposely controlled under a null hypothesis. As a result, distinguishing two bit streams caused by two processes (corresp. to an absence and presence of jamming) is formulated as a binary hypothesis testing with a sufficient test statistic following the a binomial distribution. A very low-complexity detector is developed and we give its detection probability. The numerical results show the high efficacy of the proposed quantization and detection method for detecting a single-antenna or multiple-antenna jammer. Compared with an unquantized massive MIMO system, a high percentage of performance can be attained. Specifically, it is shown that the performance loss with 1-bit quantization can be roughly as large as 10% and this gap diminishes as jamming power increases.
