Speed restrictions are common problems in electric bicycle drives. This problem makes these drives difficult to be used as an effective form of urban commuting. The ultimate goal of this project is to increase the speed capability by a noticeable margin. In order to do that, a Lithium Ferro phosphate (LiFePO4) battery has been implemented for better energy storage, long lasting life, and better power density. In conjunction with the battery, a motor controller is integrated to act as the brain of this bicycle system. Additionally, a BLDC hub motor has been incorporated because of its good torque and efficiency along with some additional safety features. This study pushes the envelope of smooth and sustainable commuting by improving bicycle technologies.
