In modern naval warfare, ship target is an important combat force on the battlefield of naval warfare. Different types of ship target have differences in combat mode and combat positioning. In order to accurately grasp the enemy combat ship movement, accurately analyze the enemy combat intention and firepower coverage in the naval battle field, the accurate identification of the ship target becomes a key problem. This paper mainly studies the method of type identification of amphibious ships (amphibious dock landing ship, amphibious assault ship and amphibious dock transport ship). The size and shape related features of the ship target are obtained by feature extraction from the collected ship target samples. By means of support vector machine model, different feature combinations of ship targets are classified, and the results are compared and analyzed to determine the best feature combinations.
