Maritime transportation is the backbone of global trade, yet it faces significant fire safety challenges, particularly in cargo handling. Fires on container ships account for 55 % of all maritime fire incidents, with 92.6 % originating from cargo, often involving misdeclared dangerous goods (DG). These fires lead to catastrophic consequences, including vessel damage, container loss, and environmental pollution. The OVERHEAT project introduces an advanced Digital Solution (DS) that leverages real-time data visualization, loT sensors, UAV-assisted thermal imaging, and AI -driven decision support to enhance maritime fire safety. The DS architecture consists of Vessel DS and Port DS, ensuring seamless integration between offshore and onshore fire management operations. The system employs the S-100 stan- dard for structured data sharing, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) for interoperability, and predictive analytics to optimize fire detection and response coordination. By facilitating shared situational awareness (SSA) among ship crews, port authorities, and emergency responders. This paper presents the design and implementation of OVERHEAT's DS, discusses its potential for improving maritime fire safety, and outlines future validation efforts through simulation and real-world trials in European ports.
