A virtual reality technique-based airport fire emergency rescue virtual drill platform is proposed, aiming at resolving the defects of large manpower and material consumption, difficulty in rehearsing organization in the field emergency rescue drill, and the insufficient situation awareness support in desk exercise for emergency rescue plan. Typical 3D object models in the airport fire emergency rescue scene are constructed using three dimensional modeling technologies based on virtual reality. The virtual scenes of fire and firefight special effects are realized by the particle system, and also the human-machine interaction interfaces for both teacher and student positions are developed by Unity3D engine. The students are supported to enter the emergency virtual drill scene and interact with it by using virtual reality helmet and the handle. The evaluation results demonstrate that the platform meet the requirement of easy-using, stability and real-time, and it could support low-cost, high immersive airport fire emergency virtual drill.
