The theoretical and experimental studies of the orotron tuning in 2mm wavelength range is carried out for a device with a single electron beam, semi-spherical open resonator (OR) and two-row periodic structure (PS) operating in pulse mode. The design of device parameters was accomplished on the basis of approximate analytic theory for three different experimental orotron models. In all cases orotrons operated on the first PS space harmonic and used OR main oscillation mode TEM/sub 00q/. Studies were carried out for q =4-18. This investigation shows the possibility of creation the pulse submillimeter wavelength range orotron with suggested PS construction.
