In this paper, we present numerical and experimental study of the resonant dispersion effect on soliton pulse in an inhomogeneously broadened laser. The combination of resonant dispersion and active amplitude modulation can periodically destabilize the soliton pulse. We show experimentally that, by using the regenerative mode-locking, the soliton instability induced by the resonant dispersion can be removed. In this experiment, we used regenerative mode-locking system to synchronize the modulation frequency and the pulse repetition rate.
