Channel estimation for high speed multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) long term evolution railway (LTE-R) systems is one of the challenges in complicated engineering scenarios. In this paper, a time-domain correlation estimation algorithm with remote radio head (RRH) macro-MIMO technique is proposed. For engineering application, the line-of-sight (LOS) and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) environment is considered compared with traditional simplified LOS channel assumption. Furthermore, the cyclic sampling in two frames is employed to enhance the accuracy rate of the interpolation at non-pilot position. From the simulation results, the block error rate (BLER) of the proposed channel estimation algorithm is about 5.5dB higher than that of the traditional linear minimum the mean square error (LMMSE) algorithm with 10-2 BLER. Moreover, compared with the traditional LMMSE algorithm, the throughput performance of the proposed algorithm is increased about 0.25 bits/sec/Hz with 16dB SNR.
