Modal analysis is an important step which studies the vibration characteristics of the motors. The passage analyzes the models of the stator by the 3D finite element software called Workbench, which are based on the interior permanent magnet (IPM) synchronous motor which has 6 pole- pairs and 36 slots structure. Meanwhile, the influence of the yoke thickness, tooth depth, tooth width, the stator coils, the stator rind and the end caps on the natural frequencies and the modal shapes are taken into consideration. It is of great significance to find out the corresponding relationship of the stator core and the equivalent cylinder type for reducing the simulation time. The accuracy of the modal analysis provides theoretical support for estimating the vibration and acoustic noise.
