This study aims to enhance the traffic efficiency at the intersection of South Science Park Middle Street and North Anxiang Road, as well as the intersection of West Science Park Middle Street and South Science Park Middle Street through comprehensive analysis and simulation optimization. The research initially conducted a detailed organization and analysis of traffic flow data at both intersections, clarifying the traffic characteristics and existing issues at each approach. A traffic simulation model built with Virtual Interactive Simulation of Transportation Systems was used to assess the current traffic organization and signal timing, and a series of optimization measures were proposed, including improvements in traffic channelization, signal timing optimization, design improvements of traffic signs and markings, and the design and implementation of traffic detection and monitoring systems. The results of the study indicate that the proposed optimization measures can effectively reduce vehicle delays and queue lengths, enhancing the capacity of the intersections. Additionally, the study explored the design of traffic data detection and monitoring systems, providing technical support for real-time traffic management. Ultimately, the outcomes of this research not only provide a scientific basis for the traffic improvement of the two intersections but also offer a reference for addressing similar urban traffic issues.
