While technological advances are producing systems of unprecedented performance and allowing industry to focus on network-centric systems of systems solutions, the success of these efforts also requires unparalleled system availability and imposes a considerable challenge to the design of health management (HM) and support capabilities. Improved performance of real time system HM and maintenance functions is therefore becoming a primary design goal of complex systems. This paper discusses Boeing's approach to the development of model-driven integrated support architectures, which is illustrated by examining a representative case study that can be applied to both new and legacy programs.
