THz spectrum lies between microwave and midinfrared, a region that remains largely unexplored mainly due to the bottleneck issue of lacking compact, room-temperature emitters and detectors. Here, we report on experiments using novel nanodevices as detectors at frequencies up to 2.5 THz, which are to our knowledge not only the simplest diodes but also the quickest electronic nanodevices reported so far.
