Laser-driven shock wave (LDSW) can rapidly deposit a stress energy with an amplitude of /spl sim/GPa to materials. We applied LDSW to triboluminescence (TL) of a organic crystal. Utilizing this technique, we succeeded in controlling the timing and intensity of TL.
