A passive Q-switched Yb:YAG ceramics laser in TEM00mode was constructed with the Cr4+:YAG ceramics as saturable absorber. The pulse width has minimum value 15.6ns when absorbed pump power is 500mW. The peak power and pulse energy reached the maximum value 540W and 8.55μJ when absorbed pump power was 585mW. Up to 21% slope efficiency is obtained.
