This paper reports the results of a survey that was administered to 127 participants at the EAA AirVenture air show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin in August 2000. The survey asked participants to provide feedback regarding the functionality and usability of a set of advanced avionics for general aviation aircraft. Administration of the survey occurred immediately after each participant had received instruction and exposure to the avionics suite as it was hosted on a flight simulator located at one of the airshow exhibits. Results from the survey indicate a general acceptance of the avionics across a range of ages and flight experience levels. Results also indicate that the user interface is fairly intuitive to pilots, but that some of the button labels should be changed to prevent confusion.
