The article provides general practical recommendations on the application of Markov queuing models in technical systems. Queuing models can be used in construction and reconstruction of various types of technical facilities operating according to the principle of queuing systems, even at the design stage. Such facilities include various telecommunication systems, objects of transport infrastructure: railway marshalling yards and freight terminals, petrol-filing stations, service stations, etc. To make such facilities work stable, it is important to compute not only the necessary number of serving channels, but also storage capacity for claims expecting service. Actually, this is the capacity of entry lines in front of automobile stations or the capacity of receiving parks of railway freight terminals and marshalling yards. Accurate computation of these parameters will avert frequent denials of service due to the system overloading and, as a result, financial costs caused by loss of customers or temporary delays in servicing.
