The world is currently struggling with numerous tragic incidents on the roads and escalating difficulties in effectively managing road traffic. Li-Fi, or Light Fidelity, is a wireless communication technology that utilizes visible light, infrared, and ultraviolet spectrum to transmit data. V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) communication refers to the exchange of data between vehicles using wireless communication technology. One of the technologies used to reduce such tragedies is the V2V which allows communication and the transfer of data between vehicles using wireless communications. In addition, with more technologies being introduced to the world of telecommunications, Li-Fi technology is gaining momentum in the wireless communication field using light as a transmission medium. The ROad Assistance for Driver Safety (ROADS) system integrates Li-Fi technology into V2V communication systems to enhance road safety and health monitoring; this was done by combining the use of LiFi technology with other technologies like obstacle detection to create a comprehensive and interconnected transportation network. The primary objective of ROADS is to close the existing gap in security in V2V communication by using LiFi technology. A heart rate sensor is also integrated into the steering wheel; alerts will be sent to paramedics or emergency contacts in case of emergencies. The findings and recommendations derived from this research will contribute to the ongoing efforts to create a safer and more efficient transportation ecosystem, with the potential to save lives.
