In order to ensure the safety of the construction of subway shield tunnel under the river, it is of great value to monitor the settlement deformation of the riverbed. In this paper, three monitoring technologies used for settlement deformation of riverbed on subway shield tunnel under the river are introduced, which are measuring robot, global positioning system (GPS) and unmanned survey ship; their principles, operational methods and limitations are illustrated, respectively; the monitoring accuracy and scope of applications of the different technologies are discussed and compared; finally the possible research trends of deformation monitoring on shield tunnel in the future is proposed. This study is expected to provide practical reference for similar projects.
