In this paper an improved analysis for the interaction of optical wave with noise, commonly known as modulation instability, is presented. Nonlinear Schrodinger equation (NLSE), that governs this process, is solved with fewer approximations. It is shown that the coupled wave equations that result from NLSE lead to Riccati's differential equation. A semianalytical solution of Riccati's equation is obtained for small fiber length that results in efficient computation of the modulation instability effect.
