The high reliability of the devices of safety systems in railway transport is absolutely necessary, as it is related to guaranteeing the accident-free traffic. Such devices perform various functions in order to ensure the safe movement of trains at stations and between stations, as well as compliance with the traffic schedule. The investigation of equipment failures plays an essential role in ensuring reliability during operation, as well as in planning maintenance and modernization of safety systems. This paper presents an approach to failure analysis of various devices of railway safety systems, which includes two types of research: statistical evaluation of failures in safety systems components and reliability analysis of some of devices. Specific data are presented and the reliability metrics are determined.
