The compensation topology with misalignment tolerant capability is very important for an inductive power transfer system. Via the theoretical analysis of a parallel-series/series-parallel (PS/SP) compensation topology, four types of PS/SP compensation topologies with load-independent constant voltage output and zero phase angle characteristics are obtained in this paper. The parameters affecting their misalignment tolerant capability are analyzed, and the variation law of the misalignment tolerant capability, the output voltage gain and the input impedance angle of the equivalent circuit with two scale factors, the load, the operating frequency and the designed coupling coefficient is obtained. A 1-kW prototype is fabricated to verify the proposed theoretical analysis in this paper. The experimental results show that when PS/SP compensation topology is applied, the output voltage volatility coefficient is only 2.80%, while when the traditional LCC/S compensation topology is used, the output voltage volatility coefficient is 6.62%, which proves that PS/SP compensation topology has a good capability of misalignment tolerance.
