Efficient operation and safe movement of emergency vehicles are very important when it comes to emergency conditions. Traditional methods employed by these vehicles are based on siren lights and sounds to alert nearby traffic. But, in today's world, traffic jams are emerging to be a major concern for emergency vehicles. Even a small-time delay because of traffic can result in serious consequences. In traffic, a siren cannot be much of use because it does not provide the other vehicles a precise understanding of the position or lane where the ambulance is in. Thus, a better way can be taken to handle such situations using our “SafetyLink“ algorithm which aims to improve the speed of rescue operations in terms of safety of the emergency vehicles and overall efficiency of the whole process. The system also considers the dynamics of surrounding traffic, in addition to improving the response time for emergency vehicles. This paper proposes an algorithm implementable on a Vehicle to Vehicle(V2V) communication interface such as OMNET++ and Simulation of Urban Mobility (SUMO), offering a great potential to save many more lives in future.
