A new approach to managing transportation by an intelligent passenger transport system (IPTS) is proposed. The IPTS functioning is based on the following principles: continuous collection and analysis of transportation demand data; adaptive organization of transportation in real time by an intelligent control system (with minimal human participation); transportation is carried out based on the selection of the optimal transportation plan at the given moment; transportation is performed by unmanned electric cars that can be combined into cassettes, thus forming a new vehicle of the required passenger capacity; passenger transportation in the IPTS combines normal, high-speed and express modes with the prevalence of the high-speed mode, due to which the passenger makes a minimum number of unnecessary stops. The listed principles ensure the efficient use of the carrier’s resources and passenger transportation of increased consumer qualities.
