Vehicular ad-hoc network is a part of MANET (Mobile Ad-hoc NETwork) in which mobile nodes are vehicles. VANET (Vehicular Ad-Hoc Network) is a developing network which provides vehicular communication for the safety requirements. Its main aim is to enhance safety with aid of exchanging emergency messages between vehicles using wireless communication. It alerts drivers about the conditions of roads, traffic, and related aspects which are crucial to safety and to the regulation of vehicle flow. Information is transmitted in an open access environment. Attacker may send false traffic warning messages which can influence driver decisions, waste drivers time, vehicles fuel and even lead to traffic accidents. Thus, security is amongst the most essential issues in VANET. A main challenge is false traffic information and message modification. Digital signature technique and message verification algorithm are utilized to prevent any possible malicious attack. These are most effective technique for VANET to gain authentication and message validity. In this paper, review on different existing techniques for traffic information verification.
