The adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in India is hindered by various factors, including challenges related to EV charging infrastructure (EVCI). This research offers a comprehensive overview of the primary barriers associated with EVCI. In this study 10 factors related to EVCI have been identified and analyzed through a targeted questionnaire survey of different experts in the field, using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The analysis revealed that the lack of public EVCI, high upfront installation costs of fast EVCI, and lack of convenience are the most influential factors impeding EV adoption in India. Conversely, the study found that, according to experts, the lack of reliable electricity and the availability of land for installing charging stations are not significant concerns. By shedding light on the most pressing barriers to EVCI, this research will facilitate the development of policies that pave the way for a seamless acceptance of EVs in the future.
