This paper presents a practical method to obtain maximum efficiency for a dynamic wireless power transfer (DWPT) system. In the past, researchers have evaluated the DWPT systems with only resistive load. However, in the industrial applications of DWPT, the battery loads have both, reactive and resistive properties. Besides, charging EVs while in motion and subject to misalignment poses certain challenges to the EV industry among which suboptimal efficiency stands out. In this paper, switching frequency and phase shift in the grid side inverter are tuned to ensure maximum efficiency in a DWPT system that is equipped with an LCC-LCC matching network. Furthermore, the harmonic spectrum on the primary current of the transformer coils is used to detect misalignment in the system. MATLAB simulations were carried out to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method. Furthermore, an experimental setup has been developed to assess the feasibility of the proposed method.
