In order to analyze the environmental protection significance of electric energy substitution in transportation field, the calculation formula of energy consumption efficiency of fuel cars and electric cars are established; to analyzes the influencing factors of automobile performance with parameter investigation and to estimates the effective energy consumption efficiency. The concept of automobile thermal pollution was put forward based on the quantitative analysis of energy consumption efficiency, then the calculation results show that the thermal pollution emission ratio of fuel cars accounts for 81% of the total energy consumption of cars, while electric cars only account for 19%; compared with fuel cars the thermal pollution emission of electric cars is reduced by 18 times under the same energy demand. The average daily warming value from thermal pollution emission of cars in five typical cities is calculated. The results show that: the promotion of electric cars is conducive to alleviate the urban climate warming and heat island problems, and strongly support the realization of "double carbon" goal.
