A recent survey shows that during rush hours in most big cities, the traffic generated by cars searching for parking space takes up to 40% of total traffic and so searching for a parking space in cities is difficult for drivers. Furthermore, if the drivers know the parking lots, there is no any mechanism to reserve the particular slot. In the existing system sensors are used so it may require frequent maintenance. When booking is done simultaneously for a particular slot, drivers are unable to identify which one of them will allocate the space. This phenomenon is called “multiple-car-chasing-single-space” which may cause severe congestion. We have proposed an idea of Reservation-based Smart Parking System to avoid traffic congestion. The system will guide the drivers smartly to their desired parking destination and the driver can park at the reserved space without any searching. GPS technique is used for helping the driver to identify the nearest parking area. Graphical Interface shows the user for the available and reserved spaces that will help the drivers for selecting the suitable space. If the time limit exceeds then time occupied by the user, the notification will be shown The cashless payment modules is also included through which user can pay for reserved the space for a specified time thereby making parking system more smarter, convenient and reliable.
