In cavity enhanced absorption spectroscopy (CEAS), transmission by resonant modes of an optical cavity of a DFB telecom diode laser at 1.31/spl mu/m as determined by ring-down method, was recorded during a laser frequency sweep. This CEAS scheme has a large potential for spectral metrology and high precision trace gas detection.
