A novel intelligent navigation-aided light control system based on internet of things is designed in this paper so as to solve the controlling problems of the traditional navigation-aided light system such as multi-stages fixed power operation, manual switching and fault location. The real-time visibility data, day/night information and the distance between aircraft and the controlled objective light can be obtained by the sensor network of the novel intelligent navigation-aided light control system. The power of light is adjusted by changing current, of which is controlled by using field effect transistor power control module according to visibility information and the distance between aircraft and the controlled objective light through querying fuzzy control table. The objective light power controlling experiments are carried out by simulating use of novel designed control system at the airport in two case: the first case is high visibility at night, and the second case is low visibility at day. The power saving performance experiment is implemented by simulating application of this novel designed system in the five airports: PEK, CTU, SHA, XMN and HAK The experiment results show that, the power controlling error of the novel intelligent navigation-aided light controlling system is within 2%, of which conforms to the operation and maintenance regulations, and the power saving can reach 30% maximum at HAK by comparing the experiment of not turning off the lights. And the simulation experiment of light fault location is carried out by randomly removing lights in the new designed control system. The faulty light can be identified and its position can be located accurately by the novel intelligent navigation-aided light control system.
