Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), more commonly referred to as drones, are powered aircraft that are operated either remotely or via a pre-programmed flight plan. UAVs offer a cheaper alternative to acquiring high resolution remote-sensing data with increased operational flexibility. Historically, UAVs have been primarily used by the military. In recent years, UAVs have become more accessible to the public due to dramatic reduction in size, cost, and increased ease of use and functionality. As a result, new applications of UAVs have emerged, leading to novel prototypes and project applications. We present a UAV system capable of performing secure video surveillance to assist Vehicular Networks in monitoring road conditions and traffic control. Our system utilizes security measures to ensure confidentiality and integrity as well as protection of privacy. We evaluate our system for functionality and power consumption and show that it has minimal overhead to the UAV system's functionality.
