Commercial vehicle drivers often drive their vehicle for prolonged duration of time. Minimizing driver fatigue is an important aspect in cabin design of CV vehicles. Electric motors typically emit high pitch whining noise, which, upon prolonged hearing, affect drivers comfort. Understanding e-NVH is a vital part in design and development of traction motor for commercial vehicles. The scope of this paper is to analyze the electromagnetic noise produced between a sinusoidally driven and inverter driven motor. This paper also investigates the increases in motor noise due to static and dynamic eccentricity.
