This paper presents and analyzes potential high voltage auxiliary power unit (APU)architectures for a new generation of electric vehicles which uses an 800V battery. The architectures are developed based on providing 400V and 12V DC bus terminals while also equipping the APU with an integrated on-board Level 2 charger. The design procedure is based on minimizing the total number of components while maintaining galvanic isolation between the grid and the battery in charging mode. Different potential architectures are compared in terms of number of components and efficiency and by doing so; a suitable topology with the aforementioned features is selected. The performance of the selected topology is verified through simulations.
