Summary form only given. We report on the nonlinear optical characteristics of Yb bisphthalocyanine (YbPc/sub 2/) dissolved in chloroform, obtained with a modified Z-scan technique where pulse trains of a Q-switched and mode-locked Nd:YAG laser operating at 532 nm are employed to investigate the dynamics of the third-order optical nonlinearities.
