The increasing popularity of e-bikes and the need for sustainable charging solutions are crucial factors in the development of smart cities. The potential benefits of using solar charging systems for e-bikes, such as reducing the reliance on fossil fuels, decreasing the carbon footprint, and increasing the operational range of e-bikes, make it a highly desirable option. This study aims to explore the feasibility of implementing solar charging systems for e-bikes in coastal cities, including technical considerations. A pilot project has been selected in Al-Qunfudah to promote the use of solar charging systems for e-bikes. An optimization method has been employed to determine the best location for the Solar E-Bikes stations. Additionally, a simulation model has been developed in MATLAB/SIMULINK to identify the optimal number of PV systems and battery units for each station. Preliminary results indicate that Solar E-Bikes stations are a smart, sustainable, and efficient choice for deployment in coastal cities.
