Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is an efficient and more flexible modulation technique that is used in all major wired and wireless standards used today. It has two drawbacks namely sensitive to carrier-offset, high peak to average power ratio (PAPR). This paper discusses about an algorithm which uses convex optimization problem to reduce PAPR. Using the proposed algorithm the PAPR of OFDM system gets reduced drastically and the performance of bit error rate (BER) is not affected. The algorithm uses available null sub-carriers as weights to reduce PAPR. The complexity of this algorithm depends on the number of iterations it has taken for feasibility of convex optimization problem.
