This paper takes a new approach to determining the energy-optimal cruising speed of an autonomous electric vehicle by using accurate loss look-up tables instead of approximated component models, considering all losses both internal and external to the vehicle based on the current vehicle operating state, and proposing a fast onboard computational framework that can quickly adjust to changing driving conditions. This work uniquely considers the energy used by electrical accessories in the vehicle speed optimization algorithm, as large heating and air conditioning loads can significantly alter the vehicle's operating state.
